Esquinas Rainforest Lodge is part of a model project which combines nature conservation, rainforest research and development aid. Opened in 1994, the lodge was financed by the government of Austria and is probably the only non-profit ecotourism project in Costa Rica. Activities include hiking, birdwatching, horseback and mountain bike tours, as well as boat and kayak trips in nearby Golfo Dulce. AccomodationsEach of our fourteen rooms offers a private bathroom with hot water shower, ceiling fan, full screening and a terrace. The large main building with it‘s roof made from 70,000 palm fronds has a spacious, open living room, library, bar, and a restaurant offering high-standard cuisine only a stone‘s throw from the dense jungle. We are praised for our tropical cocktails and fruit juices, the exotic vegetables from our own garden, or the freshly caught fish from Golfo Dulce.
